- Will these 1" x 3" labels fit my printer?
- Any desktop thermal printer that accepts 1" core rolls and supports narrow label widths will run these. Most thermal printers handle 1" wide labels with proper calibration — you may need to adjust printer settings (label width, gap sensing, print speed) if your printer was previously set for wider labels. Zebra, Datamax, TSC, Sato, GoDex, and Rollo all support narrow label widths.
- When should I use 1" x 3" (portrait) instead of 3" x 1" (landscape)?
- Choose 1" x 3" portrait when your labeling application is naturally vertical — file folder spines, pharmacy vials, bottle necks, tall product packaging, or long cable wraps. Choose 3" x 1" landscape when your layout is horizontal — barcode-plus-descriptor in traditional left-to-right orientation. Both sizes work on the same 1" core desktop thermal printers.
- Are these good for pharmacy vial labels?
- Yes — the 1" x 3" portrait format wraps well around standard pharmacy vials and prescription bottles (roughly 1" diameter). The length allows enough overlap for secure adhesion without gaps.
- Do I need a ribbon?
- No. These are direct thermal labels — the printer's thermal head creates the image directly on the heat-sensitive label. Ribbons are only needed for thermal transfer printers.
