Products & Compatibility
What types of labels do you sell?
We specialize in direct thermal labels — the kind that print without a ribbon. Ecotherm labels are compatible with desktop, mobile, and industrial direct thermal printers from Zebra, Rollo, MUNBYN, JADENS, POLONO, iDPRT, Phomemo, Arkscan, Citizen, TSC, Bixolon, Godex, DYMO (LabelWriter 4XL only), Honeywell, and Brother (RuggedJet RJ-series mobile only). See the full verified compatibility list →
Which printers are NOT compatible with Ecotherm labels?
Ecotherm labels do not work with printers that use proprietary cartridges or firmware-locked media. Specifically: DYMO LabelWriter 5XL, 550-series, and 450-series (firmware-locked to DYMO labels); Brother QL-series desktop printers (QL-1100, QL-1110NWB, QL-820NWB, QL-810W, QL-800, QL-700, QL-600 — these use proprietary Brother DK roll cartridges); Brother VC-500W and VC-100 (proprietary ZINK / P-touch tape); and Zebra ZSB-DP12 / ZSB-DP14 (cartridge-based consumer media). If you have a DYMO LabelWriter, the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL is the only DYMO model compatible with our labels.
How do I know which label fits my printer?
Match three things: label size (e.g., 4" x 6"), core size (1" for desktop printers or 0.75" for mobile printers), and label sensing method (gap for desktop, black mark for mobile). Our product pages list compatible printer models for every SKU. If you're unsure, email us your printer's exact make and model and we'll recommend the right label.
What's the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer?
Direct thermal (DT) printers print using heat-sensitive paper and don't require a ribbon — they're ideal for shipping labels, barcodes, and short-term labeling. Thermal transfer (TT) printers require a ribbon and produce more durable prints suitable for long-term outdoor or harsh-environment use. Many Zebra models come in both versions; the suffix indicates which (e.g., ZD420d is direct thermal, ZD420t is thermal transfer). We sell direct thermal labels only.
Do I need a ribbon for Ecotherm labels?
No. Ecotherm labels are direct thermal, so no ink, toner, or ribbon is required. The image is created by heat from the printhead reacting with a heat-sensitive coating on the label face. If your printer requires a ribbon to print, it's a thermal transfer printer and Ecotherm labels are not designed for that use.
What is the face material of Ecotherm labels?
Ecotherm labels use a 75gsm direct thermal face stock with a permanent hot melt adhesive on a 60gsm white glassine liner. The material is manufactured to spec Hengyuan 75DT-H-W and tested to industry methods including GB/T 451.2, GB/T 7974, FTM2, and FTM9.
What's the shelf life of an unopened roll?
Unopened Ecotherm rolls have a one-year shelf life when stored at 73°F (23°C) and 50% relative humidity, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and solvents. Once labels are printed, image life depends on exposure — direct sunlight, heat, and chemicals will fade prints faster.
What temperature range do Ecotherm labels handle?
Service temperature range is 5°F to 149°F (−15°C to 65°C). Minimum application temperature — the temperature the surface must be at the moment the label is applied — is 50°F (10°C). Once applied above 50°F, labels remain bonded and readable down to 5°F.
Will the adhesive stick to my surface?
Ecotherm labels use a permanent hot melt adhesive that bonds well to most cardboard, corrugated, paperboard, rigid plastics, glass, and painted metal surfaces. Loop tack is ≥14 N and 90° peel adhesion is ≥7 N/25mm (FTM2 and FTM9 test methods).
What surfaces are Ecotherm labels NOT recommended for?
Ecotherm labels are not recommended for PVC surfaces, or for bottles and containers with a diameter of 1 inch (25mm) or less — the curve is too tight for reliable long-term adhesion. They are also not approved for direct food, drug, or cosmetic contact, though they are suitable for outer packaging on those products. Minimum application temperature is 50°F (10°C).
Do you sell custom label sizes?
We carry over 50 standard sizes. For custom sizes, email sales@ecothermlabels.com with your specs (dimensions, core size, quantity needed) and we'll quote based on volume. Minimum order quantities apply for custom runs.
Can I get samples before ordering?
Yes. Email sales@ecothermlabels.com with the size you'd like to test and your shipping address. Samples are free for legitimate business inquiries.

What if my order is damaged in shipping?
Inspect every shipment before signing for it. If outer packaging shows visible damage on arrival, note "Damaged" on the delivery receipt before signing — this preserves your claim. Take clear photos of the damaged packaging and product, then email sales@ecothermlabels.com within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos. We'll arrange a replacement or refund.
Payment & Net 30
What payment methods do you accept?

Yes — POs are accepted from Net 30 customers and government agencies. Email your PO to sales@ecothermlabels.com.
Do you collect sales tax?
We collect sales tax in states where we're required to. If your business is tax-exempt, email a valid resale certificate to sales@ecothermlabels.com before placing your order and we'll remove tax from your invoices going forward.
Can I get a W-9 for our vendor records?
Yes. Email sales@ecothermlabels.com and we'll send a current W-9 the same business day.
Returns & Issues
What's your return policy?
Unopened cases in resalable condition can be returned within 30 days of delivery. See our full Refund Policy for specifics.
What if the labels don't work with my printer?
Contact us before you keep trying to print. Often it's a simple printer setting, label sensing mismatch, or core size issue we can troubleshoot in a few minutes. If the labels are genuinely incompatible, we'll exchange or refund.
Do you cover return shipping?
For our error (wrong product shipped, defect), we cover return shipping. For buyer's remorse or change-of-mind returns, the customer covers return shipping.
What if my prints are coming out faded or unreadable?
This is almost always a printer darkness setting or print speed issue, not a label issue. Adjust the darkness setting up by 2–3 levels and slow the print speed. If that doesn't fix it, contact us — we may need to verify your printer is using the right label sensing method (gap vs. black mark) and the correct core size.
Buy with Prime
What is Buy with Prime?
Buy with Prime lets Amazon Prime members use their Prime benefits — including fast free delivery and easy returns — when buying directly from our store. See Prime-eligible products.
Do I need an Amazon Prime account?
Yes. Buy with Prime requires an active Amazon Prime membership. Non-Prime members can still order through our standard checkout with free shipping included.
Where do Buy with Prime orders ship from?
From Amazon's fulfillment network, often resulting in 1–2 day delivery. Standard orders ship from our Illinois warehouse.
Can I return a Buy with Prime order?
Yes — Buy with Prime returns follow Amazon's standard returns process and are typically free.
Sustainability
Are your labels recyclable?
The release liner (the silicone-coated paper labels are stuck to) is not currently recyclable through most municipal programs due to the silicone coating. The labels themselves, once removed from packaging, can be recycled with paper waste in most areas.
What does "carbon-neutral shipping" mean?
We offset the carbon emissions from every shipment through verified carbon offset programs at no cost to you.
Are your labels compostable?
No. Our direct thermal labels are not compostable. The thermal coating and adhesive prevent composting.
