About Ecotherm Labels
Thermal labels from a 27-year specialist
Ecotherm Labels is the in-house thermal label brand of BarcodeSource, Inc., a US-based specialist in thermal labels and barcode equipment since 1998. We've spent more than two decades selling labels to small and mid-size businesses — and rather than reselling someone else's, we built our own line so we could control the spec, the quality, and the price.
What Ecotherm is
Ecotherm is a line of direct thermal paper labels built for everyday business labeling work — shipping, warehouse, fulfillment, inventory, and product identification. Our SKUs run across three roll configurations (4" OD with 1" core, 5" OD with 1" core, and 2.5" OD black-mark variants on a 0.75" core), in standard sizes from 1×0.5 up through 4×6.5.
Every Ecotherm label shares the same core spec:
- Direct thermal printing — no ribbon required
- 75gsm paper face stock, matte white, perforated, single-row
- General hot melt (rubber-based) adhesive with documented loop tack and 90° peel adhesion
- Service temperature range of -15°C to 65°C (5°F to 149°F)
- One-year shelf life under proper storage
- Compatible with standard direct thermal printers from Zebra, Honeywell, and other major brands — no proprietary calibration needed
Where they work well
Ecotherm is engineered to survive the warehouse-and-shipping reality. The face stock resists water, oil, and plasticizer and stands up to scratch. The adhesive sticks reliably to cardboard, paper, and most plastics — the surfaces real packages are made of. Barcodes stay scannable past day one.
The labels are also compliant for non-direct-contact food, medicine, and cosmetic packaging — the kind that goes on the outside of the box, not on the food itself.
Where they don't
We'd rather tell you up front than have you find out the hard way. Ecotherm isn't the right label for:
- PVC surfaces — the adhesive isn't formulated for PVC
- Small-caliber bottles (25mm diameter or less) — adhesive curl/lift becomes a risk
- Direct food contact — non-direct-contact applications only
- Thermal transfer printers — Ecotherm is direct thermal only. If you're running a TT printer, we sell ribbons and TT-compatible label stock at our sister site, BarcodeSupplies.com.
And as a general rule, if your environment is unusual — extreme temperatures, uncommon surfaces, harsh chemicals — order a sample and run a labeling test before committing to a bulk order. We'd rather lose the small order than have a label fail on you.
