Ecotherm 4" x 2" direct thermal labels are an inventory and barcode workhorse — ideal for Amazon FBA SKU labels, warehouse barcode workflows, asset tagging, small-package shipping, return labels, retail price tags, and product identification. The elongated 4" x 2" format provides full-width barcode real estate with space for a descriptor line, in a compact size that doesn't waste material on smaller labeling tasks. Made from 75gsm direct thermal paper with a heat-sensitive protective coating, perforated between labels, and wound on standard 1" cores for use with most desktop and light-industrial thermal printers.

Why Choose 4" x 2" Labels?
The 4" x 2" format is one of the most versatile sizes in warehouse and inventory labeling:
-
Amazon FBA SKU labels — a common format for FBA prep workflows, meeting Amazon's scannable barcode requirements
-
Full-width barcodes — 4" of scannable area for Code 128, GS1-128, UPC-A, QR codes, and Data Matrix at optimal density
-
SKU + descriptor text — space for a barcode plus a product name, location code, or custom descriptor below
-
Compact shipping — fits small packages, polymailers, and envelopes where 4" x 6" would overhang
-
Return shipping labels — standard format for pre-printed return labels, RMAs, and reverse logistics
-
Asset and equipment tags — inventory tracking, IT hardware labels, tool crib, and maintenance records
-
Retail price tags — product tags for retail environments, including price, SKU, and UPC barcode
-
Warehouse pick and tote labels — scan-optimized labels for pick ticket and fulfillment workflows
Key Features

Frequently Asked Questions
Will these 4" x 2" labels fit my printer?
Any desktop or light-industrial thermal printer that accepts 1" core rolls and prints labels up to 4" wide will run these. Zebra ZD-series, GK420, GX420, LP2844, ZP450; Datamax E-Class; TSC TTP/TDP/TE series; Sato CG/WS; GoDex DT/RT/EZ; and Rollo (with the external roll holder) all work. If your printer isn't in the list above, contact us with your model and we'll confirm before you order.
Are these compatible with Amazon FBA requirements?
Yes. 4" x 2" is a standard FBA SKU label size. These labels meet Amazon's barcode scanning requirements when printed at 203 dpi or higher with appropriate darkness settings. The smooth topcoated surface produces high-contrast barcodes that scan reliably in FBA receiving. We recommend printing a test label and scanning it with your phone's QR/barcode scanner app or checking with your FBA prep service before running a full batch.
Will my barcodes scan reliably at this size?
Yes. The 4" width provides ample space for Code 128, GS1-128, UPC-A, EAN-13, QR codes, and Data Matrix at recommended densities. The smooth topcoated surface produces high-contrast prints that scan reliably on standard handheld and fixed-mount scanners. For critical scan applications, we recommend testing a sample batch with your specific scanner and barcode symbology first.
Can I use these for shipping labels?
Yes, for smaller packages and returns. 4" x 2" works well for compact shipping, polymailers, and return labels. For standard outbound UPS/FedEx/USPS Ground shipping on typical package sizes, 4" x 6" is the more common choice. 4" x 2" is especially popular for RMA and return labels where the return address block and barcode fit comfortably.
Do I need a ribbon?
No. These are direct thermal labels — the printer's thermal head creates the image directly on the heat-sensitive label. Ribbons are only needed for thermal transfer printers.
How long do printed labels last?
Direct thermal images typically remain legible for 6–12 months under normal storage conditions. For inventory and barcode labels with short lifecycles, this is more than sufficient. For long-term archival, permanent asset tags intended to last years, or prolonged outdoor exposure, thermal transfer labels with a ribbon would be a better choice (we do not currently sell thermal transfer).
Are they suitable for cold storage?
Yes for refrigerated and cold-chain applications. These labels have a service temperature range of 5°F to 149°F (-15°C to 65°C), suitable for standard refrigeration and most cold-chain shipping. For deep-freeze applications below 5°F, contact us about specialty freezer-grade labels. Apply labels at 50°F (10°C) or warmer for best adhesion before the product enters cold storage.
What's the shelf life of unopened rolls?
One year when stored at 73°F (23°C) and 50% relative humidity. Heat and UV exposure shorten shelf life. Store rolls in their original packaging for best results.
Do you ship same day?
Yes. Orders placed before 2:00 PM CST ship the same business day. Orders placed after 2:00 PM CST ship the next business day.
Can my business pay with Net 30 terms?
Yes. Net 30 payment terms are available to qualifying businesses, government agencies, and educational institutions. Starting credit limit is $2,500 with a $500 minimum order. Apply here.
Can I request samples before ordering?
Yes. Email sales@ecothermlabels.com with your shipping address. Samples are free for legitimate business inquiries and typically ship with
